Flask wins MFPA award for January

Jade Flask, of Swieqi United FC, is the winner of the MFPA Female Player of the Month award for January after obtaining the highest number of points in an online poll among female footballers - the first time this monthly award has been decided by an open vote on the MFPA website.

One of most experienced players in the Assikura Women’s League, Flask played a leading role during Swieqi United’s three-match winning run in January.

The Malta international scored a total of six goals, four against San Gwann and two against Mgarr United, as Swieqi United maintained their title challenge.

Lecao lands January prize

Birkirkara’s Brazilian player Alex Paixao, known as Lecao, has been rewarded for his top performances in January by winning the MFPA Player of the Month award.

Lecao, 30, has scored in every game he played in January for a total 4 goals, including an 88th minute winner against Floriana to help the Stripes win the game with 10 men. 

The statistics underline Lecao’s fine form in January as he produced 9 shots, 5 of which were on target, 8 key passes and crosses.

Dominic Aquilina presents trophies

Local photographer, Dominic Aquilina, presented the winners with their trophy and a copy of his recently published autobiography Domenic Aquilina - The Malta Falcon. Dominic has set himself a challenge of selling 500 copies, with all proceedings going to Hospice Malta:

“I would really love to get some more orders coming in so this dream of mine will finally become a reality - as it has already been.”
